INTRODUCTORY OSTEOMETRY & STATURE ESTIMATION

Laboratory

OBJECTIVES

Once this practical class has been completed, the student should be capable of:-

1. Identifying and allocating bones to the major regional bone groupings.

2. Identifying and siding (Right or Left) the individual bones of the human skeleton.

3. Laying out a full human skeleton in approximately anatomical position.

4. Identifying major fragments of the human skeleton.

5. Sorting human bones or bone fragments from non-human remains.

IDENTIFICATION AND LAYING OUT OF AN ADULT HALF SKELETON

1. Take the plastic half skeleton supplied and identify and lay out the bones in their

approximate anatomical position. Tick ( ) OR enter the number of relevant

bones in the following list as you identify them and lay them out.

Associated foreign Bone ( ) Comment:

2. RECORD the bones on the skeletal & cranial/dental record chart supplied as handouts.

EXERCISE 2.
